A Warm Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website, as you look around the pages we hope that you will be inspired to visit with us regularly. There are all sorts of interesting aspects to the life of our church and we are continually looking for creative ways to develop our presence in cyberspace.

We also would like to invite you to pay us a visit in person. Although we like to think that we are a hi-tech church we also are working hard at being a hi- touch church. The truth is, it’s easier to engage in the former than the latter. We are open most days from morning till night and a cup of coffee or a coke is usually available.

I truly believe that God is at work bringing the most unexpected people to be part of our congregation. I am convinced that God has been working with the leadership and the ethos of our congregation for years. Sometimes we are listening and sometimes we take our eye off the ball; so the first lesson that people have to learn when they come to St Andrew’s Bo’ness is that we are not perfect. We try many things, get some things wrong and make mistakes. Sometimes people give up on us - but God doesn’t. We are utterly amazed at the way God has blessed and used our small West Lothian Parish Church to make a difference to so many people all over the world including Scotland.

The theme this year for our congregation in our hundredth anniversary in this building has been launch out into the deep. Go further and deeper than you have ever gone before in your Christian calling. Why - because that is where God is encountered ? God is the God of the borderlands, of the waste places; the God who is making the edge of things the centre and taking the centre to the edge. I am sure that is part of the engaging message of the cross.

It is this kind of thinking that makes us endeavour to be at the cutting edge, the place of transition, the place where nothing ever stays the same. So in truth we are a church in transition, longing to be changedinto the glory and likeness of Christ himself.
