Amos 8: 4-7 (NIV)

4 Hear this, you who trample the needy

and do away with the poor of the land,

5 saying,

“When will the New Moon be over

that we may sell grain,

and the Sabbath be ended

that we may market wheat?”—

skimping on the measure,

boosting the price

and cheating with dishonest scales,

6 buying the poor with silver

and the needy for a pair of sandals,

selling even the sweepings with the wheat.

7 The Lord has sworn by himself, the Pride of Jacob: “I will never forget anything they have done.

They say, ‘you reap what you sow’.
Well, what does exploitation and greed sow?
Resentment, and anger, and distrust, and division,
That’s what.
The tower will fall.
When the poor have nothing left to spend,
who will create wealth?
When there is no bread left to share,
who will have the strength to wait tables?
When it becomes every person for themselves,
who will protect the billionaires?

All of us leave this earth in a shroud,
in which there are nae pockets.
Open your eyes!
Figure it out!
There is more to this life than money, and fame, and ‘likes’.
The only thing we take with us
is love,
as we return to the love that birthed us into life.
So wake up,
and empty your pockets,
ready to fill them with the treasurers of a different kind of life.
